Carbaryl 85% WP is a broad-spectrum wettable powder insecticide containing 85% of the active ingredient Carbaryl (1-naphthyl methylcarbamate), a member of the carbamate chemical family.

3. Mode of Action

• Neurological Poison: Inhibits acetylcholinesterase (AChE) – an enzyme that breaks down the neurotransmitter acetylcholine (ACh) in the nervous system.
• Result:
• ACh builds up at nerve synapses → overstimulation of nerves
• Insects experience tremors, paralysis, and rapid death (hours to days)
• Entry Routes:

1.      Contact: absorbed through the insect’s cuticle

2.      Stomach: ingested while feeding

3.      Slight systemic: limited movement within plant tissue

4. Usage & Dosage

General Application Rate

• Agriculture: 0.25 – 2.0 kg of 85% WP per hectare (22 – 176 g/100 L water)
• Turf/Lawn: 1.0 – 1.5 kg/ha
• Animal Health: 80 – 160 g/16 L water (for mites/fleas)

Critical Guidelines

• Pre-Harvest Interval (PHI): 7–60 days (crop-specific; e.g., 14 days for mango/pepper)
• Max Applications: ≤2 per season; minimum 14 days between sprays
• Safety:
• Highly toxic to bees – remove hives before use; notify beekeepers
• Toxic to aquatic life – do not contaminate water
• Wear PPE (gloves, mask, goggles) during mixing/application
