Product Description
Calcium Cyanamide 50% GR Common Name: Calcium Cyanamide Alias: Lime Nitrogen, Formulation: Granule (GR) Active Ingredient Content: 50% Calcium Cyanamide Category: Soil disinfectant / nematicide, fungi cide, molluscicide, with nitrogen and calcium nutritional functions
1. Product Performance
When applied to moist soil, calcium cyanamide undergoes hydrolysis to generate hydrogen cyanamide, the core active substance. It has broad-spectrum inhibitory and killing effects on root-knot nematodes, various soil-borne fungal diseases (fusarium wilt, verticillium wilt, damping-off, root rot), weed seeds and apple snails. Its hydrolysates are gradually converted into urea later, and finally supply nitrogen and calcium nutrients. Meanwhile, it can ameliorate acidified soil, accelerate decomposition of crop straw and organic manure, inhibit soil nitrification and improve nitrogen fertilizer utilization efficiency. It integrates soil disinfection with soil amendment and nutrition supplement.
Suitable soil: Preferably acidic soil with pH<7; conversion slows down in alkaline soil with reduced efficacy, not recommended for use.
Mode of Action: Hydrolysis occurs with soil moisture to produce hydrogen cyanamide, which damages cell metabolism of nematode egg masses and juveniles, inhibiting nematode hatching and survival. It also suppresses spore germination of soil-borne pathogens and weed seed germination. The decomposed products can be absorbed by crops as available nitrogen and calcium nutrients.
2. Registered Target Pests & Application Methods (Domestic Label)
| Crop | Target Pest | Dosage of formulation | Application Method | Waiting Period |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Cucumber | Root-knot nematode | 720–960 kg/hectare | Band application | 10 days before transplanting |
| Tomato | Root-knot nematode | 720–960 kg/hectare | Band application | 15 days before transplanting |
| Rice | Apple snail | 495–825 kg/hectare | Broadcasting | 10–15 days before land preparation |
Application Key Points:
- Incorporate into soil by ploughing after application and keep soil moist. It has almost no efficacy in dry soil due to insufficient hydrolysis.
- Strictly follow the safety waiting period. Complete degradation of hydrogen cyanamide must be finished before transplanting to avoid phytotoxicity.
- For greenhouse soil disinfection: broadcast, plough, irrigate and cover with plastic film to boost disinfection effect. Fully ventilate to release toxic gas after the plastic film is removed.
3. Physicochemical Specifications
- Appearance: Grey-black granules
- Active Ingredient: 50% Calcium Cyanamide
- Nitrogen content (N): approx. 20%, Calcium oxide (CaO): approx. 30%
- Particle size: conventional 1–4 mm (customizable)
- Stability: Hygroscopic; hydrolyses when exposed to water; store in sealed and dry condition
- Toxicity: Low toxicity in China registration; strongly irritant to skin, mucous membranes and eyes; dust inhalation is harmful
4. Safety Precautions
- Human Hazard: This product inhibits alcohol metabolism. Alcohol consumption is prohibited within 24 hours before and after application, otherwise severe poisoning reactions (flushing, palpitations, vomiting) may occur. Wear goggles, rubber gloves, dust mask and long-sleeve protective clothing during operation. Rinse skin with plenty of clean water in case of contact; continuously flush eyes with clean water and seek medical help if splashed.
- Mixing Restriction: Do not mix with ammonium nitrogen fertilizers, acid fertilizers, superphosphate, etc., which may cause ammonia volatilization and efficacy loss. Do not apply together with uncomposted manure.
- Environmental Hazard: Harmful to aquatic organisms. Keep away from water sources. Avoid application near bird reserves; cover with soil after application.
- Storage: Store in cool, dry and sealed place, far away from water sources, food and feed, prevent moisture.
- Not for seed fertilizer or topdressing: Only used as pre-planting soil treatment base fertilizer.

Product Description
Calcium Cyanamide 50% GR Common name: Calcium Cyanamide Alias: Lime Nitrogen, Formulation: Granule (GR) Active Ingredient: 50% Calcium Cyanamide
Product Features
Calcium cyanamide is a multi-functional soil disinfectant, nematicide, fungi cide and molluscicide. Once applied into moist soil, it hydrolyzes to release hydrogen cyanamide, which controls root-knot nematodes, soil-borne pathogens, weed seeds and apple snails. After degradation, it supplies nitrogen and calcium nutrition to crops, improves acidic soil, accelerates compost decomposition and reduces nitrogen loss.
Mode of Action
When in contact with soil moisture, calcium cyanamide hydrolyzes to hydrogen cyanamide. This active compound disrupts cell metabolism of nematode eggs and juveniles, suppresses germination of fungal spores and weed seeds. Later it converts into urea, releasing available N and Ca for plant uptake.
Application Recommendation
- Cucumber / Tomato: For root-knot nematode, apply 48–64 kg/acre, band application 10~15 days before transplanting.
- Rice: For pomacea canaliculata, apply 33–55 kg/acre, broadcast before land preparation.
- Incorporate granules into soil after application and maintain adequate soil moisture. A mandatory waiting period is required before planting to avoid phytotoxicity.
Safety & Precaution
- Irritating to skin, eyes and respiratory tract. Wear full PPE during handling.
- Do NOT drink alcohol within 24 hours before / after application, may cause severe poisoning.
- Do not mix with ammonium fertilizers or acid fertilizers.
- Harmful to aquatic organisms. Keep away from water bodies.
- Store in sealed, cool and dry warehouse, protect from moisture.
- Shelf life: 2 years.
